44.1 Features
Pavingstone (cobblestone) degeneration is a peripheral retinal degeneration characterized by multiple rounded, punched-out areas of chorioretinal atrophy with prominent underlying choroidal vessels and pigmented borders (▶ Fig. 44.1). Lesions are yellow–white regions of depigmentation caused by chorioretinal atrophy, which can occur singly or coalesce into bands. It is observed in 27% of patients over 20 years of age with incidence increasing with age.
