Definition of Chronic Otitis Media

Chronic otitis media is an inflammatory condition of the middle ear cavities which lasts for more than 3 months and generates morphological sequelae.

The term chronic otitis media includes:

• Chronic otitis media with effusion

• Active chronic otitis media (suppurative)
