Predictability of Intraocular Lens Power Calculation Formulae in Infantile Eyes With Unilateral Congenital Cataract: Results From the Infant Aphakia Treatment Study

The recent article describing the results from the infant aphakia treatment study contains a rare set of short eyes. It would be helpful to the ophthalmic community to have a starting point from which to choose lens constants for these formulas in short, infantile eyes.

It was encouraging to see how well the SRK/T (Sanders, Retzlaff and Kraff/Theoretical) formula did, given that it has a known flaw. This error is most evident in eyes with steep corneas, which many short eyes have. This error was corrected in the T2 formula.

It would be helpful to also evaluate these eyes with the T2 formula to know whether correcting this flaw improved the results further. It would also be helpful to know the results of other new formulas such as the Olsen, Universal, and Haigis formulas.
