CORRECTION: In the June 2013 issue of Otolaryngologic Clinics of North America, in the article by Dr Malcolm Taw, Dr Chau Nguyen, and Dr Marilene Wang on Complementary and Integrative Treatments for Rhinosinusitis, a sentence in the summary section was intended to state: ‘For example, Palmer ⁴¹ elegantly describes this transition whereby “generations of doctors and scientists were taught to envision bacteria as single cells that float or swim through some fluid… in fact, rhinologists continue to foster this view”; however, biofilms are not just single cells, but are structurally and metabolically heterogeneous multicellular communities.’ ¹⁵³

This statement was misprinted as ‘… however, structured community of cells enclosed in a matrix of polysaccharides, nucleic acids, and proteins.’
